Kat's Movie of the Month: FATE OF THE FURIOUS (Fast8)

First things first, let me say this:

LETTY ORTIZ IS WIFE GOALS. To all the girls out there, make her your life peg once you plan to get married. HAHA! She is the coolest movie heroine ever (okay this is a biased opinion since I'm a fan of the franchise but I'm sure guys who will read this will agree). Who wouldn't want her as a wife guys?! I mean she's oozing with sexiness, she's fierce, she's smart, she is an awesome driver-slash-racer and most of all she's so damn loyal *and astig...swoon*! Okay, back to my main topic...

Since I posted this a month after it's theatrical release, I'm pretty sure most of you guys have watched the film already. If not and you don't wanna be spoiled, then please do stop reading. RIGHT NOW. But if you're game for some movie spoilers, go ahead and dive into this article.

First few minutes of the movie, you will feel nostalgic with Dom Toretto racing in the streets of Havana. Everything seems perfect during his honeymoon with Letty. All the street racing action and scenes are so beautiful that you'll definitely miss the old-school Fast and Furious. Until, Cipher, played by the goddess Charlize Theron came in the picture. She's a great villain. She pisses me off and made me love and hate her at the same time. She's actually the perfect villain to take over the world. Except for one thing: HER HAIR SUCKS. Her hair is more annoying than her character. Or maybe I'm just really paying too much attention to it. But guys, she looks perfect, why should they screw her hair up into some braid? I prefer it to be in a simple high ponytail... That would make her look perfectly bad ass. Anyway, back to the story line, I must commend the whole Fast team for gambling on the "betrayal because of blackmail" story. It's been done too much in Hollywood and Filipino teleseryes that another story would make people roll their heads 360 degrees. Their gamble was worth it tho since they have executed it perfectly making the story believable and rational. Who wouldn't do everything and anything just to save a cute innocent little baby right? But what made the movie irrational was the movie's middle part action scene where they controlled all the cars making them fly and move automatically everywhere in the streets of New York. For me it was too much of an action and futurism in a movie. They went all Transformers in that part making those scenes unfitting and quite unrealistic. 

Fast and Furious 8 also introduced some new characters aside from Cipher of course. There's Eric Reisner or as they fondly call him Little Nobody... I think they are trying to make him fill in the shoes of Paul Walker's character, but of course, the legendary Paul Walker is irreplaceable so there's no way he can fill those shoes. If he'll be a mainstay in the future Fast franchise, he better work really hard... and they must find the perfect character for him to blend in with the Toretto gang's chemistry with each other! There's also Magdalene Shaw, the cool momma of the Shaw brothers whose short appearance made the film more entertaining... Then there's Lil Brian... The cutest new family member, gosh guys, he definitely stole the whole show.

I really don't know what's the fuss about this movie. Dunno where the super nega comments are coming from. It wasn't really that bad. It could actually pass as one of the best movie in Fast and Furious franchise. I guess some scenes are just flat but some scenes make up for it. Especially those Deckard Shaw vs Luke Hobbs scenes... Fast and Furious people should develop their tandem more coz those bros got an awesome chemistry! Plus: LUKE HOBBS AS A FATHER IS GOALS. Watch out for his funny football scene with his daughter! Also, watch out how Jason Statham aka Deckard "The Hot Daddy Nanny" Shaw stand out in the movie. The original cast of course, with their chemistry definitely made the whole journey enjoyable with all their antics and banters. 

Fast and Furious 8 is definitely a must watch especially if you're a major car fanatic like me... I swear, this movie will surely satisfy your car porn fantasies.
